Strangers at 47, Seksyen 17, Selangor

This eatery stayed long on my 'Rambling' list. It is a living list i compile; whenever i see a place i want to try, i add it to the list. Strangers at 47 caught my attention long time ago with its high reviews, multiple awards and catchy focused food offering- crepe! For whatever reason i took so long to try, i'm thrilled i finally did.

Tucked along the neighbourly but buzzing row of shops in Seksyen 17, the simple yet cozy decor was a pleasant welcome for an evening with my family. I made a table reservation and we were accompanied to our seats by a friendly waitress. Flipping through the menu, my eyes darted to the savoury crepe section.

I had the Uncle Salmon and it was delectable! The pan-seared salmon fillet was well cooked, still moist on the inside and crispy skin. Enveloped in the crepe too were tasty pumpkin mash (providing a little sweetness), almost-pureed spinach and mushroom, dressed with miso cream. The crepe was thin, slightly buttery, but enough to seal the flavours in the dish. This may look light but i was thoroughly satisfied and full when i cleaned the plate.

A Hen's Crush stars a pan-seared Cajun boneless chicken thigh as the protein in the crepe. It was tender. Came with capsicums, warm hash brown and refreshing cucumber-onion salad, in house made spicy sauce, my Mom enjoyed her meal.

When you think of steak, you'd expect to see a piece of meat sitting boldly on your plate. Well, this is Not Your Local Beef, a char-grilled Australian strip-loin steak, shyly hidden beneath the crepe sheet. My Dad had it medium-well and it was succulent. I was impressed by the steak- in my mind, this eatery is a cafe place. It came with olives, breaded onion rings, sour cream mayo slaw and tomato relish.

If you're not in the mood for crepe, like my brother, you can have the Chicken Leg with sides of rice and criss-cross fries. The chicken was not dry and tender. The rice was aromatic and the fries were crunchy. My brother was happy with this.

We skipped sweet crepes for dessert and instead, had a complimentary birthday cake slice. The peanut butter banana cake slice was recommended by the waitress and it was a lovely gesture. Peanut butter fans will enjoy it (or any sweet tooth people like me).

Price was reasonable and portion was perfect for one person. Strangers no more, i am sure i will return. Friends now, may be?
