Jet Mei Seafood Restaurant, Ijok, Selangor

Image
Getting onto the LATAR highway, from the North-South Highway (PLUS) or from Rawang, the quaint town of Ijok is relatively easy to fine. Exit after the Ijok Toll and drive along the main road. It was my first time in Ijok- the previous was not counted as i only went through to get to Kuala Selangor. Surrounded by many oil palm plantations and kampung style houses, the laid-back look of Ijok boasts great eat, especially the Beggar's Chicken. However, as we asked for directions from a friendly couple, who was buying some snacks by the roadside, we were told that without reservation, it is usually sold out. Instead, we asked for their kind recommendation and kindly enough, they led us, with their motorcycle, to another restaurant popular among the locals and possibly tourists. This affirms that we have friendly and helpful people around us! This seafood restaurant does not sit by the seaside or is designed with lavish decor, but it is air-conditioned, decent enough to welcome our h

Gua Tempurung Round 2 & Ipoh Food Trail, Perak

It was a public holiday and we were searching for a place to visit. The idea of exploring Gua Tempurung surfaced, and having much said and shared about my experience at the popular cave, we were excited. After some convincing, we pushed for this day trip- tiring but fun, with our stomachs full, through Kampar and Ipoh. Medan Selera Makan, Kampar Morning Market Arriving in Kampar after slightly more than two hours of drive from KL (exited at Tapah), we were hungry and excited at the same time. This food court is no stranger a place to us- we visited this place numerous times, sometimes in the afternoon. In the morning, it was different and there were many people because of the morning market nearby. Parked by the roadside, along the river, i can't help but to be amazed, and afraid, at the many monitor lizards roaming the bank or swimming in the water- i could easily spot five. There was one with relatively big tummy, as if it's just eaten breakfast. One of the popular food

Rock Salt Grill & Coffee, KL

Seeing the name of this new shop from afar with pictures of coffee and crepe cake on an inviting promotional banner, i never knew this shop in Aeon AU Setiawangsa was a Pakistani and Arabic eatery. Only now i learned that rock salt is recently famously associated to Pakistan (and so the name), with some claims that Pakistan has the best rock salt in the world. The friendly waiter at the door was keen and kind to introduce and recommend some of the popular dishes- because it was our first attempt at an authentic Pakistani cuisine restaurant. This two-week old, first outlet in Malaysia has somewhat simple layout and decoration. We were led to a comfortable, cushioned sofa before the waiter keyed our orders into a tablet. The waiter informed us that our dinner would arrive in 20 minutes because the 'food is prepared fresh'- which i assumed that he meant the food was not precooked or to be reheated for serving. Feeling positive and looking forward to dinner.   The winner of t

The Pool, KL

This is new- my first review of a club! I have to admit that i am not much of a drinker, my limit to alcohol is nothing to boast about, and definitely my point of view comes from my limited 'clubbing' experience- though now i somehow foresee more in the future because, simply because, i feel this wanting of visiting the many, many types of club. On a flip side, it is an expensive hobby. It was random, my visit to The Pool, that a casual invite escalated to really stepping into the premise despite needing to wake up early the next day for work. We were there after nine. It was no surprise that the crowd was only a handful then; by eleven, they came flocking in, filling up the reserved tables or hanging around by the bar. Cover charge was RM 35 for men, inclusive of a choice of beer, vodka or whiskey. We had their popular 'Watermelon Slush' at RM 40. It was interesting to drink straight from the watermelon. Of course, there is more to it than just its juices. Drinking
