The Pool, KL

This is new- my first review of a club! I have to admit that i am not much of a drinker, my limit to alcohol is nothing to boast about, and definitely my point of view comes from my limited 'clubbing' experience- though now i somehow foresee more in the future because, simply because, i feel this wanting of visiting the many, many types of club. On a flip side, it is an expensive hobby.

It was random, my visit to The Pool, that a casual invite escalated to really stepping into the premise despite needing to wake up early the next day for work. We were there after nine. It was no surprise that the crowd was only a handful then; by eleven, they came flocking in, filling up the reserved tables or hanging around by the bar.

Cover charge was RM 35 for men, inclusive of a choice of beer, vodka or whiskey. We had their popular 'Watermelon Slush' at RM 40. It was interesting to drink straight from the watermelon. Of course, there is more to it than just its juices. Drinking this, while chilling at the side of the mini pool with music, evokes a resort feel. Slowly, the strength of the drink sits in. Then, we had another local favourite, 'Milo Ais'- and 'local' i mean by club-goers, drinking community. Because it has alcohol inside, it boozes up your everyday breakfast drink. The menu has many other interesting names for its cocktails like 'the Fish Bowl' or 'Coco Nutz'. Club has its share of creativity, don't you think?

When it got crowded, the place becomes quite small- i know, this doesn't make much sense, but who would've expected a freeway in a club. Set centered in this club is a pool, hence, it's name i suppose, but when we were there, no one was in it. The pool was designed with a bridge like platform when later in the night, or morning, a flame thrower-cum- fire eater performs. Inside is a small dance floor and cozy VIP rooms. At its upper deck, one can dine for dinner before wearing in the clubbing spirit.

I have to say, when i hear the word 'clubbing' i expected loud music and crowded dance floor. I had the loud music, but to my surprise, there was no dancing when i was there. I felt the DJ rather disappointing. Instead, i sat back, enjoyed the cool night breeze and the comfortable cushioned furniture with a glass in my hand.

Overall, The Pool is a nice place to hang out, grab some interesting cocktails and chill among friends or family. More of a bar instead of a club, my bad.
