It has been awhile since we returned to Seri Kembangan. As we were around the area, we decided to head to a restaurant we tried before, and i remembered liking it. My memory of the place was faded and i recalled the road the restaurant is facing at was narrower. It wasn't easy to get a parking spot by the main road on a busy afternoon.  Air-conditioned upstairs, fan on ground level. We sat under the fan and placed our orders, from our past experience and recommendations. The chrysanthemum tea i ordered was slightly bitter (less sugar) but it was fine with me as it was refreshing for a hot day. Tau Fu Kan 'Beancurd Soup' was yummy. I liked that the tau fu was tiny and not dissolved in the soup. The flavours and saltiness were well balanced. Add a dash of vinegar to elevate the taste. Yam Basket with Sweet and Sour Pork came pretty. However, i strongly advise against this combination as, while i like sweet and sour pork, this doesn't match. The sourish ...

I read that this Hokkien Mee in Chan Sow Lin is one of the best in town, or may be the best here. So when we took off to find it, my expectation was, undoubtedly, high. My dad said that he brought us here when we were little but i have vague, if not none, memory of the place. By the roadside of the corner of Jalan Dua, sheltered three hawker stalls. Quite noticebly, the first and third stall was crowded. Another thing being a Malaysian is to have such eatery, for not only are their food yummy but they have been here for many years. It is off the main road and this somewhat makes it well hidden from the public eyes. The crowd must have been regulars, from by word of mouth, or knowledge provided by nearby factory workers during the day. We sat at the third stall since our intention was the famed Hokkien Mee. When i got back, my family was talking about going to Sungkai. So on Saturday, we ventured up north to hunt for the chicken treasure. Being myself, i got up early and researched on the destination, using 'chicken' as my search. I stumbled upon the shop (or house) and took note of its name and direction (of which later i used Waze). I expanded my search onto activities and i was always directed to the famous hot spring- i can confirm now that, that is the only other thing there. Having skipped breakfast in KL, we had a toilet break and brunch at one of the R&Rs. When i saw the other tables folding and unfolding their banana leaf, i rushed to the shop and grabbed one from the shelf. The chili sambal was triumphant; nasi lemak in banana leaf is a timeless classic. The quaint little town of Sungkai greeted us with a warm welcome of its old buildings. I was surfing the net for a place to dine in Bangsar because i know that Bangsar has good food, but which exactly, and i don't frequent Bangsar, which was all the more reason to bring my family for this exploration. One of the lists placed Monte's in the top 10 with good overall review. I looked further in their website and the menu with price listing excited (and prepared) me. I had in mind what i would order (but it wasn't available on our visit). I went to BSC once but never realized the existence of this eatery, tucked at one of the corners. We found our way to the restaurant and was greeted by a friendly waiter. His name is Randy. I made a reservation but i'm sure they do have space for walk in because the space is large. I liked the ambiance of the eatery too. Dark but not too dark that you may accidently knock a table or chair, cushioned chair and pretty decor. My mom actually Google-d for recommended restaurants nearby and she discovered this place in Cheras. We decided to try, putting our adventure caps on. The eatery sits slightly off the main road but despite it being somewhat hidden, it was crowded with people that we had to sit outside, without the air-conditioning (my mom called earlier and the recipient told her it was not necessary to book. Lesson learned: just book). We were then entertained by the waiter who we later knew is the brother of the chef. He possessed good public relation skill, recommending and taking our orders down cheerfully. Not long after, we moved inside- and breathed the cool air. The interior was plain but sufficient in design. Out came this Pumpkin Beancurd 'Taufu' (RM 12). It was special, especially with the unique pairing of these two ingredients, and it felt healthy.
