RM Journey: Into Ipoh

Image
Five years ago, i left a place i spent five years in. That place is near Ipoh, a usual weekend getaway for food and entertainment. In other words, to de-stress and keep balance being a student. The fond memories of Ipoh will remain with me and forever hold a special spot. Over the years, Ipoh has grown to be a booming tourist attraction. No surprise as i always see its potential, but there are definitely still room for improvements. Recently, my family and i visited Ipoh, partly to reminisce, and partly to explore and discover, creating new memories. Colourful mural art scattered around Ipoh. It was challenging to find them previously ( read Wall Paintings in Ipoh ) but today, there were abundant.  We came from the north ( read about Kuala Sepetang ) and our first stop was the Taman Rekreasi Gunung Lang . Passing by this place numerous times in the past, i was often intrigued. It was a crowded late morning, school holiday, Saturday when we arrived. Upon stepping onto the v...

The Shorea Escape

Image
You know how you and your friends meet up for dinner one night and agree on a trip somewhere together, and then as the date to confirm approaches, one by one falls out of that agreement, whether it is because of work control, relationship commitment, health condition or financial constraint, and you're left to go alone IF you REALLY want to go alone, but usually, you will cancel the plan altogether. A familiar story? Well, this is not that story. With technology these days, the discussion and decision-making process were made miles apart, across different time zones. My friend shortlisted a few places and ultimately, we selected one that matched our intentions. The trickier question was the 'when'. Noticing a break in our schedules, we found a date that lit for our calling. Kudos to my friend on continuing with the arrangement: booking and dealing with the booking. Needless to say, this trip might not have happened if not for his drive. Metaphorically. Been practis...

My Hokkaido Journey: Naked.

Image
Gomen'nasai, Did the title catch your attention? Was i really naked? Yes, i was fully naked. Why? ... Lake Toya An interesting fact about this lake is that it is ice-free (it never freezes despite the cold). It is part of the Shikotsu-Toya National Park. Our bus stopped here and although i don't favour lakes, i enjoyed the short time at this lake. Posing with the lake behind. Close-up shot. Just chilling by the lake. Mount Showa-Shinzan Also located in the Shikotsu-Toya National Park is this volcanic lava dome with observable active fuming. Delicious melon ice cream against the fuming Mount Showa-Shinzan behind. We had lunch nearby; authentic tempura.   Nugget? Yummy chicken kaarage. And pork slices to cook in the boiling hot pot.  Bear Ranch Just across the Mount Showa-Shinzan is this Bear Ranch. There were many Hokkaido brown bears, also known as Ussuri brown bears, in separate enclosures. I was told that when the bear raised ...
