Outback Steakhouse KL

My visit to this restaurant was a pleasant one. I enjoyed the ambiance and the food. The steakhouse has that ranch-feel, emphasizing on its outback name. The table we sat at was high- or the chair was low, but the atmosphere and the lighting was nicely set for a nice dinner. Inside is air-conditioned but there is live music to listen to if you sit outside in the later part of the evening.

It was partly a Groupon promotion that had driven me to try. The deal was pretty good- i saved almost 50 percent (Groupon offers for Alice Spring Chicken and soup of the day, or Seafood Pasta and Kookaburra Wings. The rest are as per the menu). Without the discounts, i would have to dig deeper into my pockets.

The Typhoon Bloom is an amazing appetizer. The onion strings, which spiraled around a spicy dipping sauce, is aromatic and flavourful. Peeling the onions from the 'tornado' and putting them in my mouth surely blew me away, as the menu suggests. Enough to share for a family of six.

The wrath of the typhoon comes at a price of RM 17.95.

My plate of Kookaburra Wings came in drumsticks instead of chicken wings. Nothing spectacular about this dish; i felt that it was average. It is tasty but not memorable. It comes with a choice of mild, medium or hot.

Tasty, but not memorable, at RM 14.95 for half portion.

The soup of the day was Carrot Soup- one of my personal favourite of the night. The soup comes slightly yellow and plain, but do not be deceived by its simplistic appearance. A spoonful of the soup carries much flavour. I could not really taste the carrot, but that is not an entirely bad thing.

This carrot soup is yum! Worth the price of RM 7.95.

My main course was the Outback Favourites' Alice Spring Chicken. The tender chicken breast was topped with mushrooms, beef bacon and melted Monterrey Jack and Cheddar. The knife cuts easily through the meat and the sliced chunk bursts with taste in the mouth. The chips served along with the meat is best eaten with the honey mustard sauce. This dish is meaty and hearty, so much you could share if you have a small stomach.

Spring in at the chicken, for RM 33.95.

The Seafood Pasta, fettuccine tossed in marinara with a mixture of seafood like prawns, fish and cuttlefish, is tasty. Again, if you have a small stomach, you could share (and when you share, you can have varieties).

Seafood pasta.

The Ribeye is definitely juicy. Cooked to the right level of medium-rare, this delectable dish confirms the name of the place- a steakhouse. Served with mashed potatoes and mixed vegetables, this dish is well done!

Eye on the treat, at RM 49.95.

The BBQ Chicken Burger is served with one of the best buns i have ever tasted. If heavy main courses are not what you want, this burger is able to fill you in.

Burger attack.

Planter's Punch. This fruity drink is made of rum.

Ended the hearty dinner with a cocktail.

The question now is, would i return to this steakhouse? Depends. For the place? Yes. For the food? Some, like the Carrot Soup, Typhoon Bloom and Ribeye steak, the three that stood out the most and are recommended. For the price? Let's just say, it is a nice place to celebrate an occasion or a treat to pamper yourself.

What? Carrot Soup, Typhoon Bloom, Ribeye
Where? Outback Steakhouse. BB Park GL-12, Low Yat Plaza, off Jalan Bukit Bintang, KL.
How much? Above average-pricey
