Marquee Lounge, KL

Image
I was thrilled to be invited to VibeHero 's second event at Marquee Lounge in BB Park, KL last Thursday. I saw the menu and i was surprised by the range of food/cuisine i was going to have for dinner. But what surprised me more upon my arrival was the venue that houses the dinner i was about to attend- as its name suggests, a lounge. I went in, ordered a Soda (again, i drove) and chilled at the cushioned sofa with the team while more food enthusiasts/ambassadors came. The low lit area makes for good, relaxing atmosphere, but an even more suitable nightlife spot with the spacious dance floor and music. Soon after, we moved to near the bar where they had set up a long dinner table for us, and a side table for food photography. Good service at this Lounge too. Arranged neatly on the table, with a welcoming note. BBQ Chicken Potato Skins- the perfect starter. The potato skin was crispy and flavourful, matching the equally tasty BBQ chicken and homemade coleslaw toppings. I...

Pisang Waterfall- and Going Bananas!

Image
A splendid waterfall surrounded by untouched greenery that is kept hidden near Kuala Lumpur reminds me of the beauty of nature. I woke up to a cool Sunday morning; the air was fresh from the continuous rain the day before, and i began packing for the day ahead. Towels, checked. Extra clothes, water bottle, camera, checked. Shoes, checked. Salt- i've read that the trek to the waterfall passes through a leech territory, checked. Then, i left and picked my friend and cousin up. We decided to take the route that is more adventurous to the waterfall. Since it was our first time and none of us has GPS- only remembering the directions from Google Maps researched the day before, we relied on our instincts and desires for adventure to bring us to our destination. The drive there was easy and it took us about half an hour from Ampang. From Ampang on the MRR 2, we passed by Zoo Negara and Taman Melawati on our right and Balai Bomba Taman Melati on our left. Keep left and after Shell, take...

La Boca Latino Bar, Pavilion, KL

Image
I've always walked past the bars and restaurants at Connection, Level 3 Pavilion, and tell myself that one day, i'm going to dine there. With VibeHero Malaysia, i had the opportunity to dine with the energetic team and other food bloggers at the La Boca Latino Bar.   Although this eatery is tucked in a corner, near the escalators, one cannot but notice the vibrant colours of its chairs and the creative murals on the walls- these details immediately caught my attention as i stepped into the eatery. A chalkboard at the side on some of the bar's signature dishes.  Bright colours adorned the wall. It was full-house for a weeknight. I liked the ambiance of this eatery- it was lively. The menu was designed and set, nicely prepared on the table- and i was ready for a Latin cuisine. The friendly owner was there to explain the background of the dishes to us. Since i drove, i had to skip the margarita and settle for this coffee. Came with a pretty heart shape on...

Alor Akar Seafood Restaurant, Kuantan, Pahang

Image
Walking into the crowded restaurant on a Saturday night, i saw that many tables had not eaten- and i was hungry. This restaurant is one of the popular restaurants in Kuantan; simple looking but busy with people moving around almost constantly. We were seated then quick to be asked for drinks- we wanted sugar cane but it was sold out by then, so we settled for the thirst quenching and sweet wheatgrass. There were boards on the wall with photographs of their signature dishes- we used them as reference and also looked out for what other customers ordered. Dinner was served not long after- table by table until it was our turn. Beggar Chicken. Wrapped in foil, the chicken was cooked until soft and the meat could easily detach from the bones. The strength of this dish, however, was the herbal gravy- or soup, in it. It was aromatic with strong herbs flavour and it surely felt nutritious. No wonder why this dish's photograph was on the board. Taufu with Salted Fish. At first bit...
