Porto Romano, The Intermark, KL

Image
I had always walked past this eatery, located at a corner near the center of the Mall, outside looking in. This time, to celebrate my dad's birthday, my family and i entered; i was quickly amused by the decor inside. Definitely prettier than what i saw from the outside. The place is cozy with classy Italian vibe. We were brought to our tables (we did not make reservation but lucky enough to have a big enough table to fit us). As i leafed through the menu, i realized that there are many choices of pasta and pizza, and if they are not your choice, there are other dishes worth considering too. Because there is a recommendation sign next to the Porto Romano Pasta, i picked that. Salad and octopus. Creamy with delicious mushroom flavour. Recommended. My Spaghetti Porto Romano. It is described as spicy but personally, it was just perfect for my liking (not spicy at all for a Malaysian tongue). The right balance of sour and salty, whets the appetite. The amount of seafoo...

My Abu Dhabi Journey: Sand and Speed

Image
When i knew i was going to Abu Dhabi, i created a mental list of things to see/do, and apart from those in The Grand and The Beautiful , i wanted to see and experience for myself before i leave the city. In many ways, i am grateful to be given the opportunities to fulfill them. Etihad Towers Made even more popular with the Fast and Furious 7's cars-don't-fly scene, i was terribly excited when i saw these towers before my eyes. I first saw it on my first day in the city, went up with my friends with the Big Bus tour and when i visited the Emirates Palace Hotel. Yes, i am never bored looking at these towers. Taken from the Emirates Palace Hotel. At the Observation Deck at 300 of the tower, overlooking the city a-la-milionaire. As we had the Big bus tour, we went up with a promotional rate. However, if you don't, you could pay the full price that comes with voucher to be spent at the cafe at the deck. Honestly, i prefer the latter as although it was pricier, the ...

My Abu Dhabi Journey: The Dubai Escape

Image
On one of the weekends, we got on the shuttle and went to Dubai. It took us about an hour and a half; excitement grew throughout the journey. Sometimes, i cannot believe that i was in Abu Dhabi and Dubai, both incredibly modern cities, on the same day. Upon arriving in Dubai in the evening, i detached myself from the group as we had other agendas and looked at my plan for this escape in the city. From the drop off point, i walked to the closest Metro station (even the stations looked futuristic) and eagerly awaited as the train moved from station to station, and finally brought me to: Dubai Mall Well, i didn't stop right in front of this Mall but upon exiting the station, there is a covered, air-conditioned walkway that stretches from the station to the Mall. No sweat; just about 20 minutes of walking. The Mall is huge and you can find almost anything here, as you will read along this post. There are different sections in this Mall; as i walked, i felt like being in a gold marke...

My Abu Dhabi Journey: The Grand and The Beautiful

Image
The first time i came into this country was for a connecting flight from Dubai to Dammam, Saudi Arabia, but it doesn't count as i never left the airport. I only saw the silhouette of Burj Khalifa from a distance and had since eyed for an opportunity to stand beneath its incredible structure. This year, the opportunity came and i returned to the country whose national symbol/bird is the falcon, whose currency is the dirham; i traveled to the United Arab Emirates. As much as i eagerly want to lay my eyes on the tallest building in the world, i had to hold my excitement. My training was located in Abu Dhabi and while work (or study) first, play second, i never missed a moment to explore the capital city of the UAE. It took some time before getting used to the work schedule: Friday is a holiday and the work day starts on Sunday. I was there just past mid year so the temperature was still high- seeing 40 degree Celsius was common. Needless to say, i was seldom outdoors unless neces...
