[Wyack TV] RM: Food finds in Klang Town, Malaysia

Image
The first thing that comes to mind when one mentions of Klang is Bak Kut Teh, loosely translated to Pork Bone Tea. Undoubtedly, everyone has their own favourite and preference of its porky meaty version. But don't stop there! Make a day trip to Klang Town and learn more of its food scene. We did, and enjoyed walking around town. This was our plan: we started with breakfast at Chong Kok Kopitiam, hunt for Regent Pandan Layer Cake, played with the mural art, tasted the Seng Huat Bak Kut Teh (aka Under the Bridge) and chilled out at cozy Seraph Awaken cafe before heading home. My Qatar Journey: Lost in Souq

Image
Doha, or specifically the Hamad International Airport, is a common transit point for many travelers on long distance flights between the east and the west. I transited at this airport several times, never stepped past the immigration because of short time gap. Only recently, with a layover of seven hours, i took the opportunity to explore this capital of Qatar. I may have just scratched the surface but in the few hours there, i had a rollercoaster of emotions- excitement, disappointment, awe and fear, that made this travel unforgettable. Perhaps, a thirst for more instead. Some Qatari products. Minus queue time at the airport, minus traffic uncertainty, i planned for a four hour experience. I prioritized my visit to the Museum of Islamic Art (MIA) as i saw it listed among the must dos/sees in the city and focused my research primarily on that place. Upon arrival at the airport, immigration clearance was easy as Malaysians get free visa-on-arrival. Do check if you require visa...

Sungkai's Special, Perak

Image
When i got back, my family was talking about going to Sungkai. So on Saturday, we ventured up north to hunt for the chicken treasure. Being myself, i got up early and researched on the destination, using 'chicken' as my search. I stumbled upon the shop (or house) and took note of its name and direction (of which later i used Waze). I expanded my search onto activities and i was always directed to the famous hot spring- i can confirm now that, that is the only other thing there. Having skipped breakfast in KL, we had a toilet break and brunch at one of the R&Rs. When i saw the other tables folding and unfolding their banana leaf, i rushed to the shop and grabbed one from the shelf. The chili sambal was triumphant; nasi lemak in banana leaf is a timeless classic. The quaint little town of Sungkai greeted us with a warm welcome of its old buildings. From the map, i gauged the size of the town and quickly spiraled into our destination. With road signs leading us too, w...

Pisang Waterfall- and Going Bananas!

Image
A splendid waterfall surrounded by untouched greenery that is kept hidden near Kuala Lumpur reminds me of the beauty of nature. I woke up to a cool Sunday morning; the air was fresh from the continuous rain the day before, and i began packing for the day ahead. Towels, checked. Extra clothes, water bottle, camera, checked. Shoes, checked. Salt- i've read that the trek to the waterfall passes through a leech territory, checked. Then, i left and picked my friend and cousin up. We decided to take the route that is more adventurous to the waterfall. Since it was our first time and none of us has GPS- only remembering the directions from Google Maps researched the day before, we relied on our instincts and desires for adventure to bring us to our destination. The drive there was easy and it took us about half an hour from Ampang. From Ampang on the MRR 2, we passed by Zoo Negara and Taman Melawati on our right and Balai Bomba Taman Melati on our left. Keep left and after Shell, take...
