Apart from strawberries, another popular experience in Cameron Highlands, Pahang is a visit to the tea plantation. But which one? Relatively more famous (and from the recent pics online, more touristy) is the Boh Tea Plantation. I read about the crowd so instead, researched about Cameron Valley Tea sites. There are three, so pop comes the question, which is my favourite? I visited all three and watch to find out. Enjoy the greenery while you're at it. Cameron Highlands in Pahang is among the popular holiday destinations for Malaysians who seek cool air and lots of greenery. And of course, for strawberries! Do you prefer sweet or slightly sourish? How about spicy, like being made into a sambal. You read right, sambal strawberry, unique to the location. I've never heard of yacon prior to my visit there. Walking into the crowded restaurant on a Saturday night, i saw that many tables had not eaten- and i was hungry. This restaurant is one of the popular restaurants in Kuantan; simple looking but busy with people moving around almost constantly. We were seated then quick to be asked for drinks- we wanted sugar cane but it was sold out by then, so we settled for the thirst quenching and sweet wheatgrass. There were boards on the wall with photographs of their signature dishes- we used them as reference and also looked out for what other customers ordered. Dinner was served not long after- table by table until it was our turn. Beggar Chicken. Wrapped in foil, the chicken was cooked until soft and the meat could easily detach from the bones. The strength of this dish, however, was the herbal gravy- or soup, in it. It was aromatic with strong herbs flavour and it surely felt nutritious. The last time i went to this kopitiam was many years ago. I could not remember the tastes of its dishes but i  remember- and it still is, that the shop is mostly green in colour.  The kopitiam. We had our Sunday breakfast here. It was rather crowded but we managed to combine 3 tables to fit 9 of us. The waiter that attended to us was friendly and definitely a senior. To order, we wrote down the numbers corresponding to the menu on a piece of paper and handed it to him when we were done. He could recite the orders in full just by looking at the numbers! We were lucky to be there on a Sunday as this is a Sunday-only special: Nasi Kunyit with Chicken Rendang. It was delicious. The sticky yellow rice was cooked well and the chicken rendang was the ideal complement. Recommended.  As we walked in, i noticed this dish on many customers' tables. This Tepung Goreng was tasty. My Saturday morning began when my dad came into my room and woke my brothers and i up. He said, 'let's jalan-jalan makan' (literally translated as travel and eat) today and my first reply was 'where?'. 'Raub', he said. Spontaneity has never exactly been my strength but when thrown in with adventure, i was all geared up to go. My parents got the idea to visit this place mostly because of Axian's travelogue in the Asian Food Channel- the episode i didn't watch. I only knew little about Raub in Pahang- that it is a gold mining area, famous for peanuts and bean curd. Journey to Raub took us almost an hour and a half drive from home, and it was a new yet familiar experience.
