When i knew i was going to Abu Dhabi, i created a mental list of things to see/do, and apart from those in The Grand and The Beautiful , i wanted to see and experience for myself before i leave the city. In many ways, i am grateful to be given the opportunities to fulfill them. Etihad Towers Made even more popular with the Fast and Furious 7's cars-don't-fly scene, i was terribly excited when i saw these towers before my eyes. I first saw it on my first day in the city, went up with my friends with the Big Bus tour and when i visited the Emirates Palace Hotel. Yes, i am never bored looking at these towers. On one of the weekends, we got on the shuttle and went to Dubai. It took us about an hour and a half; excitement grew throughout the journey. Sometimes, i cannot believe that i was in Abu Dhabi and Dubai, both incredibly modern cities, on the same day. Upon arriving in Dubai in the evening, i detached myself from the group as we had other agendas and looked at my plan for this escape in the city. From the drop off point, i walked to the closest Metro station (even the stations looked futuristic) and eagerly awaited as the train moved from station to station, and finally brought me to: Dubai Mall Well, i didn't stop right in front of this Mall but upon exiting the station, there is a covered, air-conditioned walkway that stretches from the station to the Mall. No sweat; just about 20 minutes of walking. The Mall is huge and you can find almost anything here, as you will read along this post. The first time i came into this country was for a connecting flight from Dubai to Dammam, Saudi Arabia, but it doesn't count as i never left the airport. I only saw the silhouette of Burj Khalifa from a distance and had since eyed for an opportunity to stand beneath its incredible structure. This year, the opportunity came and i returned to the country whose national symbol/bird is the falcon, whose currency is the dirham; i traveled to the United Arab Emirates. As much as i eagerly want to lay my eyes on the tallest building in the world, i had to hold my excitement. My training was located in Abu Dhabi and while work (or study) first, play second, i never missed a moment to explore the capital city of the UAE. It took some time before getting used to the work schedule: Friday is a holiday and the work day starts on Sunday.
