F4 Fish Head Restaurant, Subang Jaya, Selangor
When i think of hidden gems, i will surely think of this from now on. Situated in an industrial area in Subang Jaya, my family and i headed to this restaurant for dinner. Following Waze, the road leading in was dark and quiet. Then, there would be cars lining the sides of the road, amid the warehouse-sized buildings.
The restaurant was huge too. There were many fans so it was well-ventilated. Despite it being hidden, it was crowded during my time of visit. We found a table and quickly placed order with a friendly waitress. It was not too long that our dishes arrived.

This bowl of fish head curry was packed with flavour. Delicious! I thoroughly enjoyed the curry-wet rice and fresh fish. The spiciness level was acceptable and appetizing.
This taufu in pumpkin sauce was another winning dish. The sweetness of the pumpkin was not overpowering. A delightful combination with the curry fish. The tofu was smooth but not delicate so it was easy to eat.
Served in a mini claypot, this salted fish pork belly was tasty too. The pork belly slices were fatty. But isn't that what we're after? So i can't complain. We couldn't locate the salted fish and guessed that it must be in the sauce.
The salted egg mantis prawn was crispy. While in other places where the mantis prawn is covered in thick batter, here, it was light and thin and we could taste the mantis prawn.
The dishes were generally heavy on taste. Dinner was satisfying. Price was reasonable. I do not know why the name F4 but it's easy to remember. As we left, i saw many tables with other cooking style of fish. I am pretty sure i'll return to this restaurant. In the meantime, let me just salivate with the curry in memory.
