Restoran Sate Kajang Haji Samuri, Kajang, Selangor

Say 'sate' and Sate Kajang comes to mind. Kajang is located not very far from KL, about thirty minutes drive. I have tried sate from various shops within and outside KL, and i enjoy gobbling down the bite-size meat of every stick. It is one of the many Malaysian foods that i truly favour and definitely will recommend to travelers visiting this country. Sate, to a certain extent can be described visually like a mini kebab, is cooked over charcoal fire, is meaty, chunky, fatty, sweet, salty, and is usually eaten with peanut sauce 'kuah kacang'. Kajang is popular with sate and i wouldn't disapprove. Particularly the mega chain Restoran Sate Kajang Haji Samuri- its building obvious along the main road in Kajang, has made its mark as a representation of the famous Sate Kajang. My family and i arrived at the restaurant and quickly found a table at the air-conditioned section (there's an open air section near the counters and a balcony section above). Once seated, we

Restaurant Mei Six Hin, Prima Sri Gombak, Selangor

The first time i saw this restaurant was when we were food hunting around Prima Sri Gombak. We did not try this restaurant then because it was fully occupied. I was not in KL when my family visited this restaurant the second time, and i gathered from the way they spoke about the restaurant that dinner was good, one in particular was the 'to fu kan' which was compared to my personal favourite at Seri Kembangan. Another was the prawn curry in coconut. In the third time, i was around and to say the least, my expectation was met with their recommendation. We were there on a Sunday at 7pm, before the crowd settled in. While my parents were ordering some favourites from my family's previous experience and some recommendations from the owner, i noticed the restaurant was decorated with photos of food and international celebrities. Service was quick and our dishes were served. From the kitchen was this Peanut Pork Ribs, recommended by the owner. This dish was truly unique

After a satisfying breakfast at Kedai Kopi Shin Lok in Jeram, we went to the wet market at Kuala Selangor. Unlike my previous visit, most stalls were open and aplenty with seafood that one would actually be spoiled for choice, and if that one does not prepare a shopping list, he or she would end up buying more. Even the crowd was larger, perhaps due to the school holidays, Saturday, public holiday (Sultan's birthday), or all. In this visit, i noticed many tiger prawns on ice boxes, packets of 'la la', crabs and squids among the fishes. I even saw a baby shark on sale! Done marketing, we headed for lunch at a nearby restaurant. Previously, we tried the Jeti Seafood Restaurant and so this time, we went to its neighbour, River View Seafood Restaurant, equally as crowded, also facing the waters. The restaurant looked neat and clean (toilet was commendable. I thought it would smell fishy but it wasn't). Our lunch came not too long after we placed our orders. Flippi

On the road for another food hunt. This time to the uncharted regions of Jeram. My dad heard of this place from his friends, who then became excited and wanted to try them himself. Waking up considerably early for a Saturday, we quickly got changed and hit the road. At first, we thought it was somewhere in Ijok but after asking the locals, Jeram was the other way. I couldn't turn on the GPS (technical and human errors, my bad) so i had to rely on my navigation skill using Google Maps and some blogs for the address. We found ourselves onto Jalan Kapar and i was on the look-out for a mosque: Al-Naim Mosque. Knowing we were reaching our destination, i grew hungrier and the popular, reason-we-drove-here, 'wu kok' better be good. Parked slightly at the back, we first saw the kitchen the dishes were prepared in and walked towards the crowded kopitiam for breakfast. Along the way to our table, i glimpsed over the other tables to find them eating 'pau's, yam puff 'w
