Cathay Mee Stall, Ipoh, Perak
Unlike my usual trip to Ipoh, my latest getaway to the city came with a different gastronomical experience- tasting the Indian food. My friend recommended this stall so i had pretty much an expectation to meet.
Upon the entrance to the stall, i was greeted by the uncle in the picture frying Mee Goreng, and it looked appetizing. We got to our table and my friend ordered- three plates of Mee Goreng. People make a beeline for their lunch as i watched while waiting for our lunch to be served.
It was definitely worth the wait, and my expectation was met. My plate of fried mee noodle came, as appetizing as it was seen in the wok 'kuali'. After squeezing the juice out of the lime, i stirred the noodles before diving hungrily into the star of plate. This Mee Goreng has oomph in every spoonful-a perfect balance of sweetness, saltiness, sourness and spiciness. The noodles comes with potatoes, egg, crunchy prawn fritters, and dried beancurd with bean sprout and chopped scallions. The portion of the noodles is enough to keep you full through dinner- both the stomach and the satisfaction.
If Mee Goreng is not your liking, this stall also serves Mee Rebus and Rojak.
