Jeti Seafood Restaurant, Kuala Selangor, Selangor

One of the reasons people flock to Kuala Selangor is to buy fresh seafood- fish, prawns, crabs, squids. My reason was another: to eat seafood. The last time i went to Kuala Selangor was for a school trip that began at Fort Melawati and ended with a sampan ride through the river, watching fireflies at Kampung Kuantan. Since my goal of the day was entirely different, this seafood restaurant is not too hard to find. I can say likewise for every other seafood restaurants here. From the market, you can find lots of seafood restaurants nearby. It was my first time at Jeti Seafood Restaurant. I enjoyed the setting of the restaurant. The place was airy and breezy, overlooks the river and mangrove forest, and from my table, i could see the bridge people use as landmark. I'm almost certain that this post title caught your attention, because it sure did catch mine while i was in the car, looking through the window. We were heading towards Kuala Selangor when we saw signboards written 'Cendol Bakar Free Refill' in front of a large hut. The question popped: 'cendol bakar' as in burned cendol? We had to try so we returned later in the afternoon- the best time to have cendol is under the hot weather (that if the cendol is cold). There were cars queuing up for the drive through service so we decided to park along the main road and eat in. The beach like hut with a mix of kampung style was packed with customers. The menu was interesting: serving VIPs to durian lovers. It was self service; we ordered the VIP cendol over the counter, waited for it to be prepared then bring the dessert to our seats. I just had to try. Because my friends said this place serves 'nasi ganja'. We were there for lunch around 12 noon and there was already a beeline at the counter. We quickly got inside and waited for a table. This Chinese kopitiam shop actually serves 'nasi kandar' that is so good, people nicknamed it as 'nasi ganja'- because people always come back for more. No worries, there is no drug at all.  Customers queuing up to take away or 'ta pau'.  We had a piece of the famous Fried Chicken, Curry Fish, Curry Mutton and Curry Sotong. The Fried Chicken was tasty and the part we had was meaty. The fish and sotong were ok- nothing to wow about. But the mutton was really good. Worth to try the mutton, then the chicken.  The star of the lunch was actually the rice- since its the rice that people come back for, especially with the gravies. Using my hands to eat, my lunch was, literally, finger-licking good. For five people, we paid almost RM 20

The end of this story. But not the last. After almost 6 days of traveling, visiting the Genocide Museum, the Killing Fields, Silver Pagoda, the Angkor Wat and the Tonle Sap Lake, we took this day to tone down, sit back, relax and enjoy. It was our last day because our flight back was early morning the next day. We returned to the Pub Street area- this place comes to life at night, and in the daylight, it was like any other ordinary streets with many bars. Breakfast at Old Market I bought a packet of Amok spice- i do not want to regret like last time when i didn't buy the Sarawak Laksa back home. It felt like the market in Phnom Penh- food at the almost center, clothes, souvenir and other stalls surrounding the food area. Getting to the food area was not easy too. We got up after a nice night of rest and began planning for the day. The Tonle Sap Lake was where i wanted to go, knowing it is the largest lake in South East Asia that lies at the heart of Cambodia, and is one of the sources of life to many. We consulted with the hostel staff on the best deal to spend the best time on the lake and they suggested late afternoon for sunset. The tour organized by the hostel was well priced and worth it. It wasn't until 2 pm that we went for the tour so the morning was free and easy where instead of heading towards the Pub Street area, we turned left from the hostel and explored the other part of the city. Post Office We walked in the direction to the post office, looking for breakfast. The road was rather empty; the streets less with stalls so we went in to the post office. My Cambodian Journey: Bow to the Magnificent Angkor Wat and More

We've come to the highlight of the visit; my most anticipated moment, one that i had wanted to experience and as i stood before the great, ancient temples, i could not but bow to the magnificence of its wonder. Truly, my visit to Angkor Wat was beyond what i'd expected- because the surrounding temples impressed just as much. The Day Before... After arriving in Siem Reap and checking in at our hostel, i didn't know that we can do this: see the sunset on the day before. Do this, because after a full day around Angkor Wat, you'll not have enough energy to get through to sunset. Meeting Ty at 4.30pm at our hostel, he brought us to the Angkor Wat ticketing booth and we had to queue up with other enthusiastic tourists- the booths opened at 5pm. The one-day admission pass cost USD 20 printed with a photograph of my face taken on the spot. We got the pass and quickly left to the best sunset spot, hoping to avoid the incoming crowd.
