Restaurant Triple Round, Bukit Beruntung, Selangor

We drove more than 45 minutes from KL to Bukit Beruntung for dinner. My family has been to the restaurant but it was my first. From the highway, we moved to dark, low-lit roads and arrived at the restaurant. The crowd at the restaurant was massive- tables were occupied, there were tour buses, customers queuing up outside, and the atmosphere was rather chaotic- plates of rice and dishes flying in the air, waiters and waitresses constantly moving, chatters from neighbouring tables. It was a Sunday night so i suppose this scenario was no surprise to a restaurant that serves good food- my brother told me that he would have two plates of rice even when we were in KL. We found a little table at the edge of the restaurant, sat and waited for our turn to place orders. It wasn't long until our food was served.

Signature taufu with minced pork (RM 8). The sauce and minced pork were tasty. Taufu was ordinary. Overall, slightly above average but good starter.

Came steaming hot to our table was the Steamed Fish in Soy Sauce (RM25). I enjoyed the rich blend of sweetness and saltiness in the sauce. The fish was fresh and juicy, but at some parts, it did have a little 'fishy-mud-smell'. Despite it (the 'smell' is forgivable as it's common in this fish), this dish is recommendable.

Time to dig in, really deep! Vegetable Curry (RM 12) was delightful! The curry was well flavoured even with just vegetable as the main of the dish. Mixed with the rice- i practically 'showered' my rice with the curry, it was appetizing, level maximum. The cabbage, taufu and other mixed vegetables were only complementing this dish. Highly recommended.

But the steal of the night wasn't the curry alone. It was this: Pork in Sauce served with Mantou buns (RM 32). Forgive this picture, the pork was orangish-reddish and the buns were golden brown. The thick sauce was delicious- salty, sourish, and eating with the bun was perfect match; but the pork meat was triumphant. The meat was succulent, and meaty with enough fats for us to eat right until its two long bones remaining. To say the least, my dinner would be more than satisfactory with just the curry and this dish. Highly recommended.

It was worth the distance and worth the wait. There was no wonder why this multi-lot restaurant, with and without air-conditioning sections, were fully occupied. Even while we were eating, at around 8pm, customers still flock in. Service was quick but could make do with a little more friendliness.

The restaurant may be in a quiet area but itself, it's bustling. Make this a stop along the way. Or if you are willing to drive- hey, it's for good food!
