Plan B, KL
An interesting and catchy name for an eatery. 'Let's go Plan B'.
'What's plan A?'
I don't know; may be a back-up choice strategy- it was to me as the first place we wanted to go apparently was fully booked and we needed to make reservations for Saturdays? But after my visit, Plan B is no substitute restaurant. Under the same company as Ben's (i enjoy Ben's partly for their food and partly for their concept and design), Plan B's interior and menu felt similar- cushioned sofa, black and white cottage like walls with paintings, and a flipboard-style, handwriting font menu . I went to the outlet in Bangsar Village: good service and friendly staff. Unlike Ben's, my table did not have riddle or question cards, nor recipe, to entertain ourselves with while waiting for dinner. But service was quick despite the crowd.

Pasta Spicy Crabmeat. Strong seafood/crab aroma- crab lovers will enjoy this. The crabmeat comes in little pieces, mixed and it becomes almost hidden between the spicy pasta. Tasty, for RM 23.
Loaded Club Sandwich (RM 21). Nice toast of bread sandwiching tender chicken meat and avocado puree-like. Good to share if something light is preferred.
Pasta Aglio Olio at RM 15. Comes plain so sprinkle some chili flakes (or anything) to add flavour to taste.
Wild mushroom soup was sold out so we were recommended this: Chicken Barley Soup for RM 11. The sweetness of chicken is brought out in the broth, with unique blend of vegetables such as carrot and broccoli, and barley seeds. I'm not sure what the puzzle-shaped piece floating in the soup is. I would prefer the wild mushroom soup, though i have not tried it.
Carbonara Pasta (RM 20) was a tad too salty to my brother's liking, but i found it alright (perhaps because i only took a few strands of pasta). Cheesy enough with mushrooms- i like the mushrooms, i like mushrooms.
My dad's Sirloin Steak (RM55), medium to well done. Juicy but the meat was a little tough for me. Nothing really stood out, the potatoes were ok. The black pepper sauce was alright.
Mine, the Char Grilled Cheeseburger, tasted so good (and i'm not saying this because it's mine). Hidden beneath the cheese, on top of the leafy vegetable, is the beef patty- juicy ground beef. I liked the patty so much that although cutting it broke the patty into little pieces, i gathered then scooped them up, and ate them. The bun has both original and black sesame seeds, buttered just nice. The fries were ok; my brother liked it. The salad's alright. Hey, there are onion rings too! My complete meal is RM 25. Initially, i ordered Homemade Salt Beef Burger but it was sold out too. This was a good plan b.
Some hits, some misses- at least now i have tried Plan B. Some stood out; some didn't- at least now we know. That there's a plan b in Plan B- oh, i just like playing with the phrase here.
